‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2, episode 9 trailer: Rip Hunter’s return

LegendsThe second season of “Legends of Tomorrow” is at this point fully embracing the silly, and we couldn’t be happier about it. After all, this is a show that does seem to be at its best when its embracing the weird and and wacky, and there is no better example of this very thing than seeing Rip Hunter with a new accident, a different job, and certainly with a new look.

The midseason finale gave you a cliffhanger where it was revealed that the former Captain / escapee from the Time Managers had been placed into a different time, seemingly with a whole new identity. Judging from the new trailer below, he does not remember anything about who he was or where he came from. He’s also very skittish and doesn’t seem to be altogether enthused about the idea of coming aboard a time ship.

Here is where things get silly: Rip is apparently the key to getting something called the Spear of Destiny, which the Legion of Doom wants in order to execute their evil plan. That may be the most 1960’s comic-book sentence we’ve ever written in our entire lives. In order to stop the Legion, we’re going to be seeing the team do everything that they can to bring Rip back and on their side before the Legion gets a hold of him. After all, if they do that, it’s going to feel very much like game over, since they will have almost everything that they need to potentially change history and dictate their own future.

Before we go, one final thing that you would be wise to remember: The show is shifting over to a new timeslot Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. Eastern starting on January 24. It will be following “The Flash,” which probably means nothing other than great things when it comes to its own ratings.
