‘The Flash’ season 3 spoilers: Robbie Amell returning

No matter whether or not his characters are living or dead, somehow “The Flash” continues to find a way to bring Robbie Amell back in some capacity.

Today, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the actor will reprise his role as Ronnie Raymond for an upcoming season 3 episode, but did not provide any additional information as of this time. Given that Ronnie is seemingly dead both in Earth-1 and Earth-2, the show may have to be creative now when it comes to the mechanisms for bringing him back. Maybe this is a flashback version of the character, he resurfaces as a result of time-travel somewhere still alive, or he is coming from one of the many other Earths that exist out there. Presumably, there is a Ronnie back on H.R.’s Earth, and there also is one who may exist over on Kara Danvers’ part of the multiverse.

This is in so many ways one of the greatest things about a show like “The Flash”: There is an almost-unlimited plane of possibilities in terms of the stuff that they can do. For an actor like Amell, that has to add to the appeal of coming back given that he can continue to play so many different facets of someone whose sole unifying trait is his name.

Away from the DC – CW universe, the actor’s remained busy. He’s appeared in multiple episodes of “The X-Files” season 10, done multiple movies, and he is set to star in an executive-produce the feature length version of “Code 8,” which is currently in pre-production. “The Flash” itself is currently still in its winter hiatus, but will return with new episodes come Tuesday, January 24.
