If you love Fox’s “Prison Break,” then you have to be feeling rather pumped today — the show’s got an official premiere date finally! At their winter TCA panel earlier today, it was revealed that the long-awaited revival is going to be airing starting on Tuesday, April 4.
To go along with that, we also do come bearing some other great news: A brand-new trailer! This one below is all sorts of action-packed and intense, and you can see the return of several memorable characters beyond just Michael — who is very much still alive.
Also, it wouldn’t be “Prison Break” without at least one of those very things happening. This time around, it feels like “Prison Break: International Edition,” given that we’re going to see Lincoln Burrows make the trip overseas in order to find Michael and see if there’s a way to get him out of that country. Based on the trailer, it’s not going to be easy … it never is.
While it’s still very hard to wrap our head around the idea that Michael is still alive, at the same time it’s also very hard to being anything other than elated that this show is coming back. While it may be ridiculous at times and ridiculously violent at others, it still feels like an iconic entry in the history of Fox. If you go back to the first season, there was something especially creative and magnetic about it. It’s hard to say that the show ever recaptured that magic afterwards, but hopefully it discovered it somewhere in the years since. This revival is only going to run for nine episodes, but we imagine that it is going to be tightly-packed and stuffed full of surprises.
