‘Shades of Blue’ season 2 teaser features Jennifer Lopez, a crumbling world

 

This March, NBC is going to be premiering the second season of “Shades of Blue” featuring Jennifer Lopez, and if you enjoyed season 1, it’s definitely easy to be excited about what’s next. This is a show that over the course of season 1, set a number of powerful events in moment. It also put Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez) and Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta) on a path that contained a tremendous amount of drama and betrayal.

So where will the second season go? Given that this is a dark, gritty crime series, it’s probably best to assume that things are not going to be getting better for any of the main characters in the near future. The teaser below doesn’t necessarily give you new footage, but it does give you a super-stylistic look at how the worlds for these two characters are starting to crumble. You see where they’ve come from, how they feel about each other, and the outlook on what’s to come. This is going to be a difficult story ahead, and trust will not be easy to come by with anyone.

As for the decision to debut this teaser tonight, that may have been a no-brainer for NBC given that the Golden Globes are one of their most-watched events of the year, and they could take advantage of that added publicity. It’s to be seen if the buzz pays off, but the show’s moving to a risky new night in Sundays — it’s been a while since the network’s been able to make scripted drama work there in the spring, but with this cast and this particular story, it is certainly possible.
