‘Elementary’ season 5, episode 11 preview: Shinwell’s progress report

ElementaryOn the challenges for Sherlock Holmes and Joan Watson this season on “Elementary” so far is trying to assist and find the right role for Shinwell Johnson. Given that he is such an old friend of Joan’s, she absolutely wants to do everything that she possibly can in order to try and give him a new start at life. yet, at the same exact time, there are some elements of him that she finds frustrating. The sneak peek below is an example of that.

It was recently determined that Shinwell was going to be able to use some of his previous affiliations in order to be a good CI, and dig up dirt on some people in the criminal world that are doing some nefarious activities. Therefore, Holmes and Watson want to use him to infiltrate some gangs and determine what is going on within.

So what’s the problem on Sunday night’s new episode “Be My Guest”? It may be as simple as the fact that Shinwell, despite some of his preparation, hasn’t completed the necessary studies. The reality here is that being an informant on this level is serious business. You have to have a strong grasp on not on not only the operation itself, but how they communicate and work to achieve various goals. This is the sort of thing that is challenging, but we also know that it’s the sort of thing that Shinwell is capable of pulling off. He may just need a little bit of a pep talk first.

Unfortunately, the problem here for Holmes and Watson is that they won’t have too much time to focus on training him within this episode. Another problem is going to arise, and it’s going to need the lion’s share of attention.

Do you think that Shinwell will evolve into who Sherlock and Joan want him to be? Be sure to share some of your thoughts with a comment! (Photo: CBS.)
