‘Emerald City’ episode 2 preview: Where will NBC’s ‘Wizard of Oz’ drama go next?

Tonight, NBC kicked off “Emerald City,” a show that certainly has a lot of ambition and scope. After all, trying to revive “The Wizard of Oz” in such a dark, sprawling manner is exciting, but there’s certainly a high amount of risk associated with it. If you start to desecrate the soul of the original, then you run into trouble. Hopefully, that’s not going to happen here.

So following the two-hour premiere, where is the show going to next? We’ve got for you some of the first details below, which suggest that we could see in particular the rise of some of the witches and also some new journeys to go along with it.

Synopsis – “After a close call, Dorothy (Adria Arjona) and Lucas (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) learn the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) has sent his guards to kill her. In Emerald City, the Wizard seeks advisement from his counsel as he begins to lose control and the witches begin to show their power. Meanwhile, Tip (Jordan Loughran) and Jack (Gerran Howell) venture to the City of Ev to find a cure following a life-changing revelation.”

Now that you’ve got some of these details, one of the biggest questions that remains now comes via the ratings. Will this show manage to achieve some of the success that NBC had during the first season of “Grimm”? That remains to be seen, but we’ll have an update for it come tomorrow.

As for the promo below, it’s intense and all sorts of crazy. However, at the same exact time we gotta remind you that not everything you see here is stuff you’re going to be seeing in the next new episode. There is a certain amount of it that is coming further down the road.
