‘Doctor Who’ season 10: Pearl Mackie debuts as Bill in new trailer; plus, Daleks

At the end of tonight’s new episode of “Doctor Who” — which was rather wonderful and then some — we had a gift that we did not see coming in any shape or form — a teaser for the upcoming season of the show premiering at some point this coming spring.

In this teaser, you saw the arrival of Pearl Mackie as Bill, an energetic new Companion who came from rather humble beginnings, and actually refers to him more as “Doctor What” than anything else. In the limited amount of footage that we got from her tonight, we do have to say that she brings in a lot of fun and energy. She’s very different from Jenna Coleman, but that’s great because you wouldn’t want to see the same exact thing all over again. Where would some of the fun be in that?

To go along with the arrival of Bill and some of her colorful ensembles, one of the other fun things that you can expect to see (at least fun to us, probably not as fun to The Doctor) is the arrival of Daleks once more into the world. These notorious villains are an enormous part of the show, and it wouldn’t be a season of the show without them.

Unfortunately, the teaser doesn’t exactly give you much of a sense as to when this special is going to actually premiere beyond the spring, but for the time being, we’re ultimately going to take whatever we can get when it comes to reveals! We certainly didn’t expect this tonight, and it gives us just that one additional bit of holiday cheer.
