‘The Walking Dead’ season 7: Corey Hawkins stays coy on Heath’s future

Heath -

There are certainly several dangling threads out there about the future of various characters associated with “The Walking Dead” at the moment, and Heath is certainly one of them. When we last saw him on the show, he and Tara were separated, and the good news is that we know that he is still somewhere out there, waiting to be found.

Unfortunately, there is no clear word as of yet regarding precisely where he is or when we will see him, and part of the problem is that at the moment, actor Corey Hawkins certainly has his time full being the lead on another show in “24: Legacy.” He’s not revealing what the fate of his character is, but he did tell Yahoo! in a new interview that there are some discussions out there concerning if there is a good way to bring him back:

“Listen, [TWD showrunner] Scott Gimple is a genius and master in how he’s been able to continue to craft the show. We’ve been in conversations about it … We all joke about how there’s like a red [laser] dot that appears … like somehow, someone’s lurking in the closet, and as soon as you open your mouth about The Walking Dead, it’s like, ‘Uh-oh,’ you know?’ I’ll just say that we’ve been in conversation about it, and how we could make this work. My obvious priority right now is [the ’24’ character] Eric Carter.”

There could easily be a little bit of room for Hawkins to return to “The Walking Dead” depending on the success of his new show, and even if it does turn out to be a hit, we could still easily see him getting a chance to do another episode or two here in the future. The schedules for the show will probably not line up completely, and he would just need to make sure that Fox agreed to let him do it given that they have a commitment from him as a regular.
