‘The X Factor’ UK judge Louis Walsh saved from ‘I’m a Celebrity’ gig

Louis -

Given that today is Christmas, isn’t it only right to start off today by writing about something that could very well be a Christmas miracle? We’re of course talking about how Louis Walsh managed to avoid appearing on a cheesy reality show in favor of his old job on “The X Factor,” one that may be a tad cheesy but still has some respectable qualities and does generate a lot of publicity and articles.

So how did this happen? Well, let’s just say that Louis has a Jolly Old Elf by the name of Simon Cowell. Speaking on Alan Carr’s “12 Stars of Christmas” special earlier in the week, the Irish music manager revealed that he was about ready to appear on that show before he got a chance to come back and do the show he’s become famous for over the years:

“I was offered the one in the jungle, the I’m A Celebrity one … Simon rung me and said, ‘don’t do it darling, don’t do it, I’ve got another plan for you’.”

Not too long after that, Walsh found himself back on the panel for the famous singing show alongside some other familiar faces in Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger, and Simon — while the ratings continued to suffer at times during the season (at least compared to seasons past), the judges are not taking much of the blame for it and they shouldn’t. For the most part, they are very entertaining! Louis remains an interesting case for us given that we do think he’s very entertaining in the pre-taped rounds, but then you get him to the live shows and he says utterly the same thing time and time again.

The new season of “The X Factor” will likely premiere in the late summer, and if we were to guess, it seems fairly likely that Walsh will be back to judge once more.
