‘Chicago Med’ season 2 spoilers: Be prepared for a big Maggie story

Chicago MedWhile Maggie is in many ways the perfect liaison on “Chicago Med” — we often see her on some other other shows handing down information, or on this show getting a chance to assist in a wide array of different tasks — there aren’t always opportunities for her to stand in the spotlight. Luckily, we have some indications that this will change on an upcoming season 2 episode airing in January.

This particular episode is entitled “Heart Matters,” and according to some information released recently by NBC, we will have a chance to see her character front and center. Take a look at the synopsis below for more:

“Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Charles’ (Oliver Platt) heart transplant patient gets into a car crash, revealing issues that could complicate her surgery. A past arrest causes trouble for Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) when the arresting officer is brought to Chicago Med with a serious injury. Elsewhere, Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) must defend their actions when explaining a patient’s cause of death. Meanwhile, Dr. Halstead attempts to treat an uncooperative horse jockey.”

Is this arresting officer the one who put her in handcuffs during the first season (see below) for refusing to cooperate with an investigation by putting the patient’s needs first? That’s absolutely our big takeaway from this at the moment. That allows us a chance to tie the show back to the first season, which is always something that we’re happy to see.

As for the rest of the details mentioned here, we like that we are seeing characters like Dr. Manning and Dr. Halstead having to justify their actions rather than just seeing them operating or treating patients. This presents a little more clear of a portrait than what we often tend to see on many hospital shows.
