‘Twin Peaks’ teaser: David Lynch eats a donut

We understand that Showtime wants to keep almost everything that they possibly can about the upcoming “Twin Peaks” revival a secret. Yet, at the same exact time couldn’t they give us a little bit more than this?

We’re nearing the end of the year, and apparently Showtime thought that now would be the right time to give us one of the strangest teasers for virtually any show under the sun that we’ve seen. Basically, the focal point of this teaser is watching David Lynch, who is reprising his role as Gordon Cole, eating a donut. For those of you who really want to be tempted into eating some donuts, this is for you! For everyone else, this is all sorts of ridiculous.

There’s a reason that we don’t often see characters eating on TV — after all, for the most part it is one of the least exciting things that you can often see someone do. Also, it’s often gross.

One of the only things that we can say for certain about the “Twin Peaks” revival is that it is taking place a good 25 years after the original, it is coming at some point in 2017, and that it is featuring one of the biggest casts we’ve ever seen assembled for a show. It looks to be an extension in many ways of everything that we saw previously on television, and that’s an exciting proposition. We have utterly no idea how all of this is going to turn out, but at the same time we do understand why this is one of the most-anticipated shows of 2017 and there is a good reason why.

For the time being, here’s something else to chew on: It isn’t just about when this show is going to be released. It’s also about how it will end up happening. It’s something to keep watch on in the weeks and months ahead.
