‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’ finale: Adam Klein’s mother dies after filming; how to support battle against cancer
Tonight, the finale of “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X” is going to air on CBS, and one of the most emotional stories that you are going to hear is that of Adam Klein and his mother Susie, who was battling stage 4 lung cancer at a time in which he was out there filming the show. This was something that he chose to bring up in the closing minutes of the final Tribal Council, knowing that it was a big part of the way that he was playing and how he chose to navigate the game.
Unfortunately, in the time between then and the show airing, Adam’s mother passed away, and she didn’t get a chance to watch the episodes with him in person — though we like to think that she is out there somewhere watching over him and seeing his journey play out.
For those of you who are hearing Adam speak about this story over the course of the night, we suggest that you head over here to check out a page dedicated to raising money to help other families in need in Susie’s name. The charities benefited are the Stand Up 2 Cancer lung cancer Dream Team as well as the Bonnie Addario Lung Cancer Foundation. It’s a chance to pay things forward, and to further continue the fight against this terrible disease.
We know Adam entered this season with the spirit of giving — just look at what he does for a living. Hopefully, this is something that he continues to do in the many months and years moving forward.
Now that we know that Adam is the winner of this game, we know that he is going to have even more opportunities to do some good. More congratulations to him for the victory. Also, it was a super-classy move from CBS to put up notices to donate over the course of the show. The link that they posted online is Su2c.org/survivor. (Photo: CBS.)
