‘Timeless’ episode 11: Will there be more Rittenhouse?

Timeless -One of the big reveals in the “Timeless” fall finale last night was that Rittenhouse, once thought of as a super-mysterious organization, actually was a real person back in the days of the American Revolution. Specifically, his name is David Rittenhouse, and he was actually a real person in history serving in the U.S. Mint. Granted, there was no evidence at all that he led a secret organization operating with a mysterious connection attached to Benedict Arnold.

We saw Garcia Flynn shoot David within this episode, suggestion as though this would bring an end to all of the drama once and for all and change history. However, Rittenhouse himself said that killing him would not stop the problem, and the question moving forward was a fairly simple one: Who was right? Based on what executive producer Eric Kripke said to Entertainment Weekly, it seems as though it may have been the latter:

“…We really break this season down to two parts, one which is what Rittenhouse is and unveiling what they believe and what they’re setting out to do. The second half of the season then starts to pivot to the second big question about Rittenhouse, which is, why do they care so much about these time machines? We’ll learn what they want to do.”

The motive here is clearly still a big part of the equation, given that Rufus is being forced to record so much of his travels for them to know, and as a result of that, they are never completely in the dark. It’s a rough thing for our heroes to try and deal with, but whoever said that stopping a mysterious entity and keeping the course of history the same was going to be easy? It’s certainly not!

New episode of “Timeless” will premiere starting on Monday, January 16; in total, there are six more left in the season.
