‘The Flash’ season 3 debate: Who could betray the team — and possibly release Savitar?

Savitar -

At the end of the winter finale of “The Flash” tonight, there were a few things that we learned courtesy of Savitar — though STAR Labs team would be losing a beloved member of the family, someone would suffer a fate worse than death, and there could also be a stunning betrayal.

Already, we have a few answers to these questions, given that Barry saw through the Speed Force a future in which the God of Speed ends up killing Iris West — the woman he loves, and the woman he’s moving in with in order to live in the present. He doesn’t know how to stop that death from happening, but he has to figure it out. It’s very well possible he would suffer a fate worse than death living without Iris in his life.

We also have to assume that in some way, this death is linked to the betrayal. Remember for a minute that the Philosopher’s Stone was thrown into the Speed Force, and in theory, Savitar should be gone. What happened? If we had a prevailing theory right now, it would be that Wally West is the traitor. He’s the only other speedster currently on Earth-1, and given his energy and spirit, we can envision scenarios in which this character ends up falling victim to some sort of trick or temptation. Knowing Wally, we cannot imagine him going fully over to the dark side.

As for who the other potential traitor candidates are, you could look at someone like Jay Garrick — though it’d be weird for a “Jay Garrick” to betray the team for the second straight season. Meanwhile, it’s hard to imagine Jesse Quick coming back over given that we already have a new Wells and we’re not seeing her as all that relevant to the story right now.

Who do you think could be the traitor, and the one responsible for bringing Savitar into the world once more? Let us know in the comments!
