‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8, episode 7 preview: Ian Somerhalder’s Damon crashes Christmas

TVD -“The Life You Save May Be Your Own.” “The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You.” One of these is a title of a classic Flannery O’Connor movie; meanwhile, the other one is the title for next week’s winter finale for “The Vampire Diaries.” There will be some Christmas cheer in the air, and that is the good news for this episode. Unfortunately, that may be the only good news that we have to report, given that everything else we have to report on from this episode signals that there could be some trouble coming for all of the characters as Sybil continues some of her reign of terror with Damon at his side.

Just in case that wasn’t interesting enough for you, the other part of the episode that is particularly intriguing to us is the idea that Stefan may have a history to the show’s version of the devil — one that we didn’t know a whole lot about despite this being on for so long.

Synopsis – “Faced with the fallout from his interaction with Cade (guest star Wole Parks), Stefan (Paul Wesley) is determined to have one thing go right – Christmas Eve with Caroline. However, when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Sybil (guest star Nathalie Kelley) crash their Christmas Eve dinner, which had been joined by Alaric (Matt Davis), Matt (Zach Roerig) and Peter (guest star Joel Gretsch), things quickly take a dark and twisted turn. Meanwhile, in a series of flashbacks to Stefan’s past, Cade’s attempt to entice him with his mysterious agenda leaves Stefan faced with an unimaginable decision.”

Whatever this decision may be, who wants to wager that this is something that will carry over to the next part of the season?

Promo – Could there be a wedding next week? Given that Caroline knows that Stefan only has one more day to live before going to join Cade, anything is possible — and this could be chaotic and violent. Expect this to be interesting!
