‘Big Brother OTT’ season 2 poll: Would you watch?

Over the Top -

Tonight, “Big Brother: Over the Top” is going to be coming to a close, and while we would certainly say that this was a season that had its fair share of great moments, simultaneously it was also a season that was rather stuffed to the brim with flaws. For example, the America’s nominee proved to be a massive thorn in the side of serious gameplay given that it incentivized players to go more after who America wanted out, thinking it would earn them favor, as opposed to who they had nominated themselves.

If there was another element of the show that impacted the overall experience, it’s one that is a little harder to repair: The contentious relationship that many of the viewers online had about the show. If you look across the board, there was an extremely clear divide between one side and the other, really to the point where it got at times really nasty. It was also nasty at times between the people in the house. We love fun gameplay, and we even understand sometimes that talking smack about other players can be good strategy in that it creates an us-versus-them mentality and reduces the likelihood that a given player will flip.

Yet, at the same time there’s a difference between making fun of someone casually / saying you don’t trust them in the game and then firing off serious accusations or saying offensive / controversial stuff. That happened far too much in the game and on social media, and it tampered with our overall enjoyment.

We’ll still watch a “Big Brother OTT” season 2, if for no other reason than that the show remains a wonderfully entertaining, if at times strange, experiment. The cast, comments and controversy aside, was very good. Having live feeds from the start was incredibly entertaining. While we understand that we’re not getting feeds for the challenges in the summer season, it was nice to try them out here. Ultimately, what we’re trying to say here is that this is a season that did a whole lot right in terms of experimenting and cultivating a program that proved to be fun and interactive. Moving forward, we’d take some power out of America’s hands, while still finding some other fun and creative ways for them to be involved such as customizing competitions or twists to include in the game as opposed to assigning them to players.

Over the coming days, we’ll autopsy this season further and suggest changes. For, now, we just want to know whether or not you’ll watch a second season. Vote in the comments below!
