‘NCIS’ season 14, episode 6 review: Abby gives newbie agents gifts, team investigates twisted kidnapping of petty officer

Abby -On Tuesday night the intense twists of “NCIS” didn’t end until the final minutes of the episode. Looking to find a missing husband after a kidnapped petty officer escapes her captor, NCIS agents are stuck trying to figure out who really are the bad guys while keeping an eye on all the possible suspects.

During the first few minutes of the episode, there seems to be a resolution to the kidnapped petty officer. Escaping and ultimately killing her captor, the case seems over before it begins. However, she didn’t call the cops after leaving the basement where she was tied up and she had to be detained at the airport as she was trying to escape.

Once figuring out the motive of the kidnapped officer’s escape, the team goes to work locating her husband. Expecting to meet her at the airport, he was nowhere to be found leaving the agents to retrace his steps after he dropped off his dog at a relative’s house. Chasing down leads, there are different possible reasons for the man to be missing, but the worst case scenario is found in a bank parking lot. Dead for days, the case then focuses on who would benefit if the couple was missing and if he actually stole money.

Just like last week, the final minutes of the show really brought the case together. Instead of being lead to believe the dead husband was killed for stealing, the NCIS team figures out he was killed because he was a whistle-blower. Knowing that the company he worked for was embezzling cash from shell corporations, he was getting ready to reveal a big scandal.

In going back to the professional connections in the office, once again the newbies fit right into the story with ease. Greeting the new agents in the Abby tradition, the beloved lab tech handed out homemade gifts for Agent Quinn and Agent Torres. Getting hand-knit shirts with the NCIS logo, the surprise of something so personal and so different seemed to slightly throw off Torres; but, he came around eventually. Sharing this amazing moment, Abby officially welcomed the agents in the best way she could and the fans loved it.

We really enjoyed the twists and turns on “NCIS” this week. Keeping the stories fresh and the audience guessing, it was another great episode. Episode grade: A-.
