‘The Americans’ season 5 spoilers: ‘Mistresses’ alum Brett Tucker to recur

Unfortunately over the summer ABC made the move to cancel “Mistresses,” a show that at one time did have a good bit going for it.

Luckily, at least one of the shows’ stars has already found a new gig, and it’s a notable one. Per a report from Deadline, Brett Tucker (who played chef and Joss love interest Harry through the entirety of the drama) will be appearing on the fifth season of FX’s “The Americans” as Ben Stobert, a scientist who is described as “charming, intelligent, and passionate.” There’s not much of an indication at the moment regarding how this story will unfold, but seeing him land the gig is impressive and hopefully it’ll be one that lasts for at least a few episodes.

“The Americans” is coming off of what has to be considered a banner season. Long has the drama, which stars Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell, been considered by critics one of the finest things on television. Now is simply the first time that this recognition has been made on the level in which the show deserves by the Emmys. While the show and its cast were shut out in the major categories, getting the nominations was progress in a big way. Hopefully, it will also further help ordinary viewers realize that this is a series worth watching. While it may have many hallmarks, tremendous ratings unfortunately are not one of them.

The new season will premiere on FX in the new year, and is the second-to-last for the series as a whole. The network already confirmed that the plan is to conclude things after the sixth season.

For now, let us know what you think about this casting in the comments below!
