‘Supernatural’ season 12 spoilers: More news on Rick Springfield appearance

Supernatural -

For those of you looking for a little bit of a rock ‘n roll invasion into “Supernatural,” we imagine that you have to be happy to hear some news now on Rick Springfield’s appearance! We knew before now that he was playing a rock star named Vince Vicente, and that this person would find themselves the new Lucifer. This comes after the character used Castiel (Misha Collins) as a vessel during the eleventh season, and using Vicente basically means that you are getting a completely different sort of energy for the character and hopefully a lot of fun to go along with it.

We can now tell you that you will have a chance to see Springfield for the first time in the upcoming October 20 episode entitled “Mamma Mia.” Meanwhile, the synopsis below indicates that it will be Crowley who first learns about this out of any of the show’s major characters:

“Dean (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins) and Mary (guest star Samantha Smith) have a lead on Sam (Jared Padalecki) and set out to rescue him. Dean is uncomfortable with putting Mary in danger but she insists on going along. Meanwhile, Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard) is tipped off that Lucifer has taken over the body of rock star Vince Vicente (guest star Rick Springfield).”

It’s not entirely clear how long Springfield will be sticking around, but we’ll enjoy the appearance while he’s there. It does feel like a rather-fun nod to fans of “Jessie’s Girl,” or some of his work on soap-operas over the years.
