‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’ episode 3 ties ‘Hotel’ in ratings

Roanoke -Great news: “American Horror Story: Roanoke” has officially now caught up with its competition from one year ago. In the latest ratings data that was released (and by that, we’re talking live+same day figures), “Chapter 3” drew a 1.7 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. This marks only a slight decrease from the episode before, but perhaps most importantly, this ties the episode 3 rating for “American Horror Story: Hotel.”

So do we think that the show will be able to move past “Hotel” moving forward? Well, next week could be tricky given that “Hotel” kept all of its rating from episode 3 to 4, and if there was a time for fans to start to consider bailing on “Ronaoke,” this could be it. Just think for a moment here that we are coming off of what may be one of the weirdest episodes of the season so far, one that drifted the show away from something a little more gritty and typical-horror to Cuba Gooding Jr.’s Matt having sex with Lady Gaga’s character, who she may be, in the middle of the forest. The whole story went out there, and dabbled more in the strangeness that we recently saw from “Hotel.”

The good news is that there is still potential for this show to finish ahead of “Hotel” at the end of the day. After all, remember that last season had the disadvantage of airing later in the year, which is when there was a much smaller group of people around who really even cared about that show.
