‘Arrow’ season 5 trailer: Is Oliver Queen reverting to season 1 form?

The premiere of “Arrow” season 5 is coming in just under a week’s time, and in preparation for that we’ve got arguably the best trailer that the CW show has put out to date. Stephen Amell is front and center for most of it as Oliver Queen, and we see in the process that circumstances may be reverting him back to some of his early-season form.

Is Oliver back to killing? It looks that way, and it definitely also looks like there’s a lot of other crazy stuff going down over the course of the season, as well. We’ve got our first taste of Oliver in Russia here, and there are two things that stand out right away:

1. It looks really freakin’ intense.

2. The wig is back! Or, at least some sort of wig is back. Odd as it may be, we kinda missed it in that brief period of time it was good. Flashback Oliver doesn’t have time to visit the barber!

There are some featured villains in here, as well, including Chad Coleman from “The Walking Dead” as a crime boss and also a closing shot of Prometheus, the monster from Oliver’s past who could end up being the Big Bad. Everything about this trailer feels great, and somewhat reminiscent to the earlier seasons of the show. We missed the days where there were fewer meta-humans here, and Oliver was a little more about wrestling with his inner demons and trying to save the city. Things got a tad too melodramatic and weird the past two for our taste.
