Is ‘Power’ season 3, episode 9 new tonight? Entering the homestretch

PowerThe third season of “Power” is almost over on Starz, and in many ways that is a particularly difficult idea to swallow. It really feels like this season especially moved by quickly, and it wasn’t that long ago we had Ghost trying to give up the life and in a solid relationship with Angela.

Unfortunately, you’re going to be waiting for one more week to learn how the story starts to wrap up for the year. There is no new episode tonight on the network, and you’re going to have to wait until September 18 for the episode entitled “I Call the Shots” to air. It should be a good one, though, given that you’ve got a lot to deal with from Angela facing further suspicion for what happened with Lobos to Ghost and Tommy looking for a way to get out of their current Milan crisis.

One of the most interesting aspects of the decision to delay this week’s episode is what they’re delaying it for. Sure, tonight there is NFL football, but at the same time next week there is, as well. There’s also the Emmy Awards next week, and that show tends to generate fairly strong ratings. It’s hard to get into the head of a network programmer; maybe Starz wanted to really put “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in the prime Sunday timeslot to push that acquisition, or maybe they wanted to steer clear of a realistic and often-violent program set in New York City on September 11. We would certainly understand that, and our hearts go out to the families.

Ultimately, rest assured that we’ll have plenty more news on “Power” as we approach the next new episode, including further previews! Stay tuned.
