‘Suits’ season 6, episode 8 review: Louis’ heartbreak; Rachel’s great news

Suits -

Last week on “Suits,” Mike Ross hit some further complications in his attempt to get out of prison, as he and Harvey’s plea-deal attempt start to go south.

However, by the end of the episode, we started to get a glimmer of hope for one reason and one reason only: Jill Miller. Kevin Miller’s wife eventually came around to the idea of testifying against her father, mostly because of the work of these two plus Donna showing her more of the error of her father’s ways. He was willing to sell her out in a way that she wasn’t, and that caused her to turn the tide on him. She signed a deal that would give her immunity. (Thankfully, this put an end to the Kevin – Mike conflict earlier in the episode.)

What’s still the problem here is that Sean Cahill wanted William Sutter behind bars, since without that guaranteed Mike may not have his freedom. Sutter has a deal, but will he sign it? The episode ended in a way that has us hopeful for his future … but you never know with this show.

Louis’ love trouble – He is deeply in love with Tara, but here’s the problem: She’s still not willing to let go of her other partner, who she’s known for years. It’s causing him to lose it, and this is what makes Rick Hoffman so amazing in this role. You get to see so much comedy, drama, and frustration from this guy, and you can’t help but continue to root for him.

Rachel keeps fighting – The good news for Rachel is that she’s given Leonard Bailey a stay of execution, though he is not happy about what is going on with his aunt. She seems to have figured out a way to change things up for him, but the end of this episode was all about her getting that phone call from Mike.

Could Jessica leave? – There was talk earlier this year that Gina Torres could eventually leave because of an ABC pilot, but that pilot didn’t get picked up. Does the show still have an exit plan for the character? Well, she does have a potential exit strategy via Jeff Malone, if she chooses to someday take it.

Ultimately, tonight brought us another fantastic hour of “Suits”; we’ll just have to see where the road takes Mike next. Grade: A-.
