‘NCIS’ season 14 spoilers: New premiere photo; details on ‘Rogue’

NCIS -

Hungry for more “NCIS” scoop? Today, CBS did all of us a favor in releasing some of the first information regarding the upcoming 14th season of the show, and that included a new photo from September 20 premiere episode “Rogue.” While this is an image that doesn’t show off much in the way of the new additions, it at least does a good job of showing off an intense situation at the center of the episode.

The synopsis below does mention Wilmer Valderrama and Jennifer Esposito’s arrival to the series, though beyond that, it doesn’t really reveal too much beyond what was already in a press release earlier this summer:

“The NCIS team investigates a deadly car explosion in D.C. that connects to NCIS Special Agent Nicholas “Nick” Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), who disappeared six months ago while on a deep undercover assignment in Argentina. Also, Gibbs asks NCIS Special Agent Alexandra “Alex” Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) to shadow his team after rejecting eight agents she instructed and referred for the open position.”

The biggest struggle that we see the series having in the premiere is simply one of balance. Just think about everything that they are hoping to accomplish for a minute. Not only are the writers facing the challenge of having to replace Michael Weatherly, but they have to introduce two new characters while also catering to what many fans watch for week in and week out: The case of the week, and the mystery that goes along with that. We do expect some growing pains (there always are with cast changes), but hopefully the show figures it out before frustration sets in.
