‘Dancing with the Stars 23’: Maksim Chmerkovskiy confirms, explains return

Dancing with the Stars

Less than 24 hours after it was first reported that Maksim Chmerkovskiy would be returning to “Dancing with the Stars,” the show’s oft-notorious pro made it official. For the first time in several seasons, we’re going to have both brothers performing as pros!

Speaking per Us Weekly, Maks confirmed that one of the reasons for his return is tied directly to his own physical condition at present:

“I decided to return to DWTS because I had an amazing time dancing with my brother this summer during our tour. It felt great … Getting back into shape allowed me to entertain this idea. I am in the best shape of my life, so why not spend a few months with my brother and the cast members and have fun!”

Maks is joining a list of pros that you can see here, but one that does not include his fiancee Peta Murgatroyd, who is expecting the couple’s first child together. Doing the show does further allow him to be close to really the entire family, given that he and Peta are close friends with the vast majority of the folks who work on the show (including his brother) and it gives them more stability as they await their child coming into the world.

As for who Maks could be dancing with, some early reports have him working with model-turned-host Amber Rose. More information should be coming on Tuesday, given that this is when the entirety of the cast will be officially revealed.
