‘Bachelor in Paradise 3’ star Daniel Maguire makes case to be ‘The Bachelor’

Daniel -Let’s be honest: The odds of Daniel Maguire being “The Bachelor” are slim to none. Do we think that it’d be hilarious? Absolutely, but we don’t think the show is in the business of casting the comic-relief characters in the lead role. Their template for Bachelor is pretty clear: A relatively straight-laced guy with a humble past who is impossible to be viewed as polarizing. Sometimes Bachelors become polarizing while their season airs (Juan Pablo Galavis is a prime example), but typically they are universally loved going into it and are thought of as super-sweet and humble.

With Daniel, we do think he’s got a good heart — but “humble” is not a word we’d used to describe him. In a conference call with reporters (per People Magazine), the “Bachelor in Paradise” star (really, he’s been one of the best parts of the season), he had the following to say almost as a campaign message:

“If you’re going to watch the Bachelor, you want a real dude … I mean, something that’s more realistic than ‘Oh, I love you so much’ right off the bat, and ‘Oh, she’s so beautiful’ – like come on, let’s get real. People want real, people want entertaining, people want me. … So I think I’d made a great Bachelor and I think I’m a great catch as well!”

We do think that the announcement of the next Bachelor will be made sooner rather than later, and at present we would argue that Luke Pell and Chase McNary are the only real contenders. Even with that, we’d put Luke a good ways ahead of Chase in the hierarchy.
