‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 spoilers: ‘Wonderland’ character set to appear

Remember “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland”? We know that there are some “Once Upon a Time” fans who do, and with that we’re very pleased to say that the show is paying attention to some of them in the form of this latest bit of casting news.

Per a report from TVLine, Jonny Coyne is officially poised to appear in an upcoming episode of season 6. (This is something we teased in our most-recent newsletter — sign up here.) While we were hoping that he would be reprising his role as Dr. Lydgate from the companion series, it is now clear that this is precisely what is going to happen. Maybe some out there assumed this, but you know what they say about assumptions…

Coyne will appear in the fourth episode of season 6, and it is going to be rather interesting to see how he turns up here given much of his role on that series was tied to Alice and the asylum. He is not the only returning character with a “Dr.” attached to their name, as David Anders will also take enough time off from “iZombie” to turn up once more as Dr. Whale a.k.a. Dr. Frankenstein for an episode.

 

Interestingly enough, at the moment the primary villain for the series, aside from the Evil Queen following her split from Regina, is none other than Mr. Hyde, the evil alter-ego of a certain Dr. Jekyll. There are a whole lot of doctors moving and shaking things up this season!

We also know that there was an attempted “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” reunion courtesy of Naveen Andrews’ Jafar this season; however, his schedule caused the producers to recast the role with Oded Fehr.
