‘The Flash’ season 3 spoilers: Gorilla Grodd, and Gorilla City, coming back

FlashGorilla Grodd remains in our mind one of the greatest creative challenges for a show like “The Flash,” and it is fairly easy to understand why. Basically, you have to find a way to make a telepathic gorilla into a terrifying villain, and then at the same time make sure that you have all of the proper CGI work in place for it. There are reasons why sometimes we only see the famed ape in shadows, and that is because it builds intensity while not breaking the bank.

While we’d be down for a larger arc featuring the character, this show has a limited budget; also, it is a character that is a little harder to wrap your head around than a Zoom or a Reverse Flash. We’re just going to happy to have the character around for however long that we do.

Speaking per Collider, apparently that period of time could be about two episodes. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg made it clear that the show will be doing two episodes this coming season themed around Gorilla City, which is where Grodd was sent following his last appearance in season 2. This is exciting in terms of exploring more of the character’s origin story, and also what he has been up to since his last appearance. For Barry, meanwhile, this is probably the worst move possible given that he could be forced to encounter a more-dangerous version of Grodd than before on his home turf.

In the end, color us excited. Now, if only there was a way to get more King Shark…
