‘Outcast’ episode 8 reaction: Brent Spiner on key Sidney reveal

Outcast -Last night’s “Outcast” episode on Cinemax was a tour de force for one Brent Spiner, even if much of it required him to play an incredibly creepy and despicable guy. Over the course of the hour, we learned that prior to the possession, the man’s host was actually someone even worse than the demon now within him.

Speaking to TVLine about this surprising twist, Spiner was quick to realize the shock that went along with learning the reality of who this man was:

“I had no idea who [the host] was going to be. When it finally came out [that he had his own torture chamber for children], I was like, ‘Oh my God! The guy he has merged with is far worse than he is!’ I think that’s unusual. I think it’s been true with some other people who have merged but profoundly so in Sidney’s case. He’s wound up with someone that’s really disgusting!”

For those wondering, Spiner also confirmed in the interview that he just started filming season 2, so the cast is already making quick progress preparing for the future. There should be many exciting things ahead for fans of the comic. What we do like in particular that the show has taken its time laying the groundwork for the story this season, and not spent an enormous amount of time on forcing shocking reveals in there. This continues to be one of those great comic-book adaptations that is really concerned with the emotions of its characters just as much as setting up some relentless action.
