‘Constantine’ showrunner dismisses season 2 rumors — for now

Constantine -Last year, there was a glorious appearance from Matt Ryan as John Constantine for an episode of “Arrow” season 4, and this came following the “Constantine” series being canceled over at NBC. Since the cancellation, the movement has been strong to try and bring the series back, and it has been linked to The CW on several occasions.

Do we want to see it happen? Absolutely, especially given that the show is wonderfully creepy and would give a darker edge to the lineup as a whole. Of course, we are saying this as a DC Comics connoisseur, and maybe some out there do feel like there are too many shows on the schedule as it is. We just don’t subscribe to that; as long as these are quality shows, we’re more than fine with it.

Unfortunately, the rumors regarding a “Constantine” return are for now just. In a post on Twitter, Daniel Cerone (who ran the NBC series) confirmed that there are no plans to bring the show back. One of the reasons for the talk beginning came via CW Seed starting to stream some of the old episodes. This is a strategy that they have used further to connect various offshoots of the superhero franchise. Take, for example, what they’ve chosen to do with the old version of “The Flash,” which we like to almost think of now as the Earth-4 or Earth-5 version of the story in this canon since John Wesley Shipp played Barry Allen there.

In the end, maybe this is The CW testing the market for more “Constantine” … or maybe they just want it to be available to their viewers to understand the character better. Either way, it’s something to watch, but it is not something that is actively happening in terms of a revival.
