‘Star Trek: Discovery’ official title of CBS All Access series; see the ship!

Today at Comic-Con was a pretty historic one, given that there was a chance to commemorate the 50th anniversary of “Star Trek,” This is a momentous occasion, and with that in mind, it certainly called for a momentum reveal. How about the first teaser for “Star Trek: Discovery” as a way to fit that bill?

Discovery is the name for the ship at the center of the teaser, and it is certainly nice to have an official name for the show to boot! Unfortunately, there is still not too much known about the project as a whole, whether it be the cast or what the specific story will be.

When it comes to our first impression of the ship, we’ll say that it is certainly a worthy addition to the lineup. As for the people out there complaining about the visual effects (and trust us, we’ve seen them all over the internet), calm your jets a little bit. For one, we’re not sure the visual effects here are altogether finished. Also, are we really watching a “Star Trek” TV show for the ship effects anyway? A part of what made the original series and “The Next Generation” so iconic was the story, and then also the characters to go along with it. With “Hannibal” creator Bryan Fuller working to run this series, we have all of the confidence in the world that it will be great.

This new “Star Trek” will eventually premiere on CBS, prior to the show moving over to the CBS All Access platform and becoming a full-fledged series there.
