Katie Cassidy will still appear on ‘Arrow’ season 5 … and many other shows

Black CanaryClearly, Katie Cassidy is not gone from the Greg Berlanti superhero universe on The CW just yet.

Even though Laurel Lance was formally killed off on this past season of “Arrow,” it has been confirmed that Cassidy will be a series regular across the entire universe for at least the next year. Similar to Wentworth Miller and John Barrowman, show could transfer between one show and the next with fairly relative ease. We know that she will appear in some form on the “Arrow” season 5 premiere to start things off.

As for how in the world that happens given Laurel’s death, that remains to be seen. We do think it is unlikely that the character will be resurrected given the destruction of the Lazarus Pits. Yet, we could easily see someone go back in time, or figure out some other way to use her from an alternate universe. We’ve already met her Earth-2 counterpart Black Siren, so who’s not to say the Earth-3 incarnation of her is not a member of the Justice Society of America? Or, maybe she turns up in the “Supergirl” universe at some point?

For the time being, the latter show is clearly the one that is the most disconnected from the others, but it will be rather interesting to see precisely how long that lasts. We’re just happy for now that Katie, who was sensational in her turn as the Black Canary, gets another shot at this world. We just hope that they find a way to include her without at the same time invalidating all of the power that was associated with her previous departure from the show.
