‘The Walking Dead’ season 7: Be prepared for a much larger world

twdThe seventh season of “The Walking Dead” has been in production for quite some time now, but there’s a rather hefty predicament that is keeping many details from coming out about it: The whole Negan crisis. So long as that character is still debating who to kill, the show’s not giving us many details. We’re being slightly facetious in here, of course — Negan’s made his choice. He made it during the season 6 finale. We, in a moment of great frustration, didn’t get to see it.

Moving forward, there is one big takeaway from the second half of the season that is going to translate to the rest of the show moving forward, and that is the oh-so-simple thing known as the expansion of the world. This is something that executive producer Greg Nicotero teased further to Entertainment Weekly with the following:

“The exciting thing about season 7 is we’re really opening it up … We started in season 6 by getting a sense that the world was a much larger place. We were laying the seeds for the fact that there is a very big world out there. So, in season 7, we really get a chance to explore those worlds in much greater detail.”

Let’s just hope that as we do expand these worlds further, there are some interesting characters who could prove potentially useful to Rick and his group. Based on where we are right now, these are people severely outnumbered, and while it is easy to have a cynical worldview and think everyone is at this point rather evil, we do like to think there are some good people left. Fingers crossed that we’re not just luring ourselves into a position to be surprised later!

Hopefully later this week, Comic-Con will reveal some further details about the episodes ahead.
