‘Gilmore Girls’ revival snags ‘Doctor Who’ actress Alex Kingston

As if the the upcoming “Gilmore Girls” revival “A Day in the Life” was not exciting enough, how about with an added touch of “Doctor Who”?

Earlier this week while at a Miami fan convention, Alex Kingston revealed the following about the much-anticipated Netflix show:

“I also got to play a role in the reboot of the Gilmore Girls … I play a very eccentric character in a couple of those episodes.”

Kingston plays River Song on the BBC science fiction hit, and most recently appeared in the 2015 Christmas Special as the character. She’s also played the role of Laurel and Sara Lance’s mother on “Arrow.” This just adds another wrinkle to an already-excellent portfolio for the actress. Also, what’s exciting is that she says “a couple” of episodes rather than just one.

Other news on the revival

The series filmed earlier this year in the Los Angeles area, and Lauren Graham and Alexis Biedel returned. The same goes for many familiar faces: Melissa McCarthy, Jared Padalecki, Matt Czuchry, and many others. It’s possible that there are some other surprises that are in store. Do you really think that Amy-Sherman Palladino would want to give everything away right now on the series?

Structurally, there are four episodes in the revival running 90 minutes each, and the premiere date has not been determined. However, in promotional material Netflix has mentioned that it will start streaming in 2016. Will there be more beyond that? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet, and merely just wait and see what viewers think about it.
