‘The X Factor’ Australia hires Adam Lambert, Iggy Azalea, Guy Sebastian to judging panel

The latest news -Who knew that Australia would be the setting for one of the best reality-show judging panels in recent memory? While the United Kingdom version of “The X Factor” is going for a panel of experienced names in Sharon Osbourne, Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, and Louis Walsh, the Australian version of the show is bringing in a very different sort of panel, one that has some known names aboard it.

As of this week, we know now for certain that Adam Lambert, Guy Sebastian, and Iggy Azalea are going to be the three-person panel for the Channel 7 series, with Adam having the following to say about the appointment per local press:

“I am very excited to join The X Factor in Australia as a judge and am looking forward to helping people shine their brightest … Australia has always been one of my favourite places to tour. The Aussies I’ve met are so kind and good humoured- so the thought of getting to LIVE in Sydney is very exciting.”

In moving down to three judges, the Australian version is dropping a category, something that we do think some other versions of the show could benefit from as well. We have felt at times that the judges dominate so much of the airtime that there is really not a whole lot of time to really focus on any of the talent; there has not really been an act from any version of the show in recent memory to become a huge international star; you could argue maybe that Fifth Harmony from the American version is the last one.
