‘The X Factor’ UK: Mel B to fill in for Nicole Scherzinger for auditions

The latest news -Mel B has held a seat previously on the British version of “The X Factor,” so it really shouldn’t surprise anyone to hear that she is coming back … even if it is just for a short period of time.

Per Digital Spy, the former Spice Girl is going to serve as a guest judge for the day in London, replacing Nicole Scherzinger (who had a prior scheduling conflict that dated back for some time). Mel’s known for being a harsh critic in some ways, but also is incredibly supportive of the acts that she gets behind.

In case you didn’t know in Britain, Mel also continues to maintain a solid relationship with Simon Cowell that stems largely from the two of them working together on “America’s Got Talent,” where she has been a judge now for several seasons. This is the first one for Simon on the panel there, so it’s almost a little bit of a role reversal where she is more of the mentor there to the ways of the world with this show, even if he is one of the people responsible for creating the franchise.

The other judges, including Simon, Louis Walsh, and Sharon Osbourne, are all slated to be present in London. The new season will premiere on ITV in either late summer or early fall, and we suppose at that point, we’ll get an opportunity to further see the quality of the acts this time around.
