‘Call the Midwife’ season 6, and a … spider problem?

Midwife -

We have not had too much to write about as of late when it comes to “Call the Midwife” season 6, but we can tell you this right now: Spiders are going to play a little bit more of a major role in the upcoming Christmas Special that you would imagine. Apparently, a giant tarantula is going to play a part in at least one scene set in South Africa, and it could end up sending several characters into a tizzy. For now, we can certainly say that it had this impact on the cast.

Speaking per the Mirror, animal wrangler Luke Cornell had the following to say about the experience working with the cast, and how they may have freaked out the spider just as much as it freaked out them:

“The actresses were so terrified they started running away. In the scene the midwives see it on the floor in their hut and start screaming, and then they squash it, but it took a while for them to be calm enough to cope.

“You need to know what your animal’s capabilities are and not put a tarantula or any animal in a situation where it gets a fright or feels threatened, which was explained to them.”

Ultimately, this may not be a large tease whatsoever when it comes to the Christmas special, but as a well-documented spider hater, we at least know one scene later this year that we will divert our eyes from! We’ll have more on this special as we get closer to it airing.
