‘Devious Maids’ season 4 spoilers: Show exec on Eva Longoria cameo

Devious Maids -While we know that there are going to be many different reasons story-wise to be excited about the new season of “Devious Maids” airing on Lifetime, but we know that the network is getting a lot of mileage out of Eva Longoria (who serves as an executive producer on the project) making a cameo as herself playing a part in an adaptation of Marisol’s book. It’s a chance for Eva to play a persona of herself, and also make a great crack at how there were “mean” people who worked on “Desperate Housewives.”

So how did this collaboration, and this crack at Longoria’s former show, come about? Speaking per TVLine, fellow EP Sabrina Wind made it clear that this was an idea for all parties involved to have some fun with what is already a super-fun show:

“[Creator] Marc Cherry pitched it … I think it was just a fun way to showcase the pretend Eva Longoria that we have there. The real Eva is a delight, and this person she’s playing is sort of a faux version. We just thought, ‘Why not play off all the rumors and fun and scandal that we had for eight years on the air?’ And Eva is such a great comedian. She sells that whole opening scene like nobody’s business.”

We don’t really envision Longoria having a super-important part to play in the story’s plot, so instead, just enjoy this for what it is! We’ll be back on Monday to give you more of our take via a lengthy review.
