Ratings: ‘The Flash,’ ‘The Voice,’ ‘Dancing with the Stars’ have okay finales

Flash -

Everyone’s excited about season finales, right? It marks a great opportunity to sit around and discuss all things great TV, and it’s also a chance to see just what sort of excitement lasts over the course of the summer.

The Flash” – The second season ended with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is a solid performance for the series; however, it is down from the season average of a 1.4. Kudos to the show in general, though, given that it only fell 5% year-to-year, and this number is probably even smaller when you take out the inflated series premiere.

Dancing with the Stars” – While it was a solid performance for the show most of the season, we were slightly disappointed that the finale tied its lowest rating of the season with a 1.6. Still, there’s nothing to worry about with this series, and you have to remember that this show and “The Voice” airing against each other probably hurts the both of them.

The Voice” – Finally, the singing show scored a 2.1 for its season finale, which is okay, but does further cement that singing shows are on the decline big-time. There are some year-to-year drops here of more than 20%, an that is probably one reason why we are starting to see new coaches coming onto the show. Clearly, NBC needs to figure out something to get people watching.

We also want to give a quick shout-out to “Containment,” which has really held its own despite cancellation and posted another 0.5 rating Tuesday. This show has averaged the same rating ever since the premiere!
