‘The X Factor’ UK: How Simon Cowell got Dermot O’Leary back to host

The latest news -There is no guarantee that the new season of “The X Factor” is going to be better than the last one, but at least the show is doing one smart thing we consider smart: Bringing back someone in Dermot O’Leary who we consider to be essential in so many ways to the show’s success for many years. This is the most underrated gigs in the business: You have to be professionally, funny, sympathetic, and also capable of keeping the show on time. There have been many times we’ve seen executive producer Simon Cowell under-estimate the role’s importance on many different shows; hopefully, that’s not going to happen again soon.

Speaking in a new interview with the Mirror, Cowell makes it clear that it may have been a miscommunication that caused O’Leary to depart the show in the first place. He also explained how the two got back together:

“He came out to see me in Los Angeles. He may have thought it was going to be an awkward meeting but it was one of the easiest I’ve have ever had.

“I think there was probably a misunderstanding. I thought he wanted to go and he probably thought I wanted him to leave. Neither of us, being stubborn, spoke to each other and then we realised that we miss him.”

While the full judging panel for the next season of “The X Factor” has not been announced just yet, it seems like stability is the direction that the show is heading in with Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger, and Louis Walsh all returning to the panel after some time off.
