Is ‘Elementary’ season 4 new tonight? What we know about Jonny Lee Miller’s series future

ElementaryFor fans of “Elementary,” the bad news at the moment is fairly clear: Season 4 is officially over. There is no new episode airing on CBS tonight, and to go along with that, there is not a new episode coming on the air still for some time.

As we’ve noted already, there are still some major question marks when it comes to premiere dates for this show, really perhaps more so than almost any other. The Jonny Lee Miller series premiered on Thursdays late last fall, delayed past the normal start of the TV season thanks to CBS’ football schedule. If the show is moved back once again to that time, it’s possible that we could be waiting again for quite a while for the series to return.

However, if it stays on Sundays, maybe we will only have to wait until late September or early October to see it back. These are questions we’ll likely have some further answers to shortly, courtesy of the CBS upfront presentation that is taking place a little later this week.

What we do know story-wise now is that John Noble is no longer a series regular, and we presume that in some ways, we are approaching the grounds of old-school “Elementary” moving forward. We imagine that we will have a chance to see properly what stories stick and which ones do not when the show returns. We’re hoping for more Natalie Dormer as Moriarty, but we’re also not holding our breath for it to happen.
