‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 10: Premiere date speculation; should this be final season?

Big Bang Theory -Tonight, CBS is going to unleash upon the world the season 9 finale for “The Big Bang Theory,” and of course we want to spend a moment or two being a little bit forward-thinking here. After all, that’s what we do!

First of all, let’s talk premiere dates. For the past two years, Thursday Night Football has caused the show to relocate to Mondays for at least the first part of the season; based on what we’re hearing now, that is probably going to continue. The different this time is that CBS is only broadcasting the first six NFL games on Thursday night, so it may be a shorter move; the only other possibility is that they delay the premiere of season 10 slightly to finish up football, which seems unlikely.

This renewal will likely be once again for 24 episodes, given that is the standard length of one of these seasons. One of the more curious storylines that is probably going to pop up in the news cycle will refer to questions as to whether or not this ends up being the final season of the show coming up. The cast negotiated for season 10 years ago, and they are all handsomely paid. However, we could envision negotiations being a little more intense now given that the ratings are not what they once were a year or two ago, so we’re not sure how much more money can be handed down to the cast. Also, this is a long time for any show, even if it is one so beloved.

For now, we’ll wait and see what happens. So long as there is still some humor, we’ll probably feel rather satisfied.
