‘Saturday Night Live’ books Drake, Fred Armisen for final episodes of the season

SNL -Who knew that we were going to have so much in the way of “Saturday Night Live” news to report today? We’re coming right off of posting the first promo featuring this weekend’s host in Brie Larson, and we now have confirmation about the shows the rest of the season.

First, call somebody on your cell phone: Drake is returning as both the host and musical guest of the show for the May 14 installment. This is the rapper’s third appearance on the show, and his second as a host after previously doing so a couple of years ago. He has a new album out, so it makes some sense that he would want to stop by and do this again. Also, we’ve found him decent as a comedy performer, and his experience from “Degrassi” probably helps to a certain extent.

Finally, the news is in the Fred Armisen is returning to be the host for the May 21 finale for the show, which features Courtney Barnett as a musical guest. We figure thatwith Armisen, it’s almost a de-facto title since he’ll probably be far from the only person who stops by. We certainly expect a cameo from Kristen Wiig, and if we’re lucky maybe we’ll get Bill Hader or Seth Meyers somewhere in there, as well. (The latter’s probably unlikely since he wasn’t really a sketch guy, but he and Armisen are still wroking together.)

All we hope is that this doesn’t mean that we’re going to have some sort of reprisal of “The Californians” at any point in the near future. Some sketches just below in the “SNL” graveyard…
