‘Dancing with the Stars 22’ postmortem: The end of Von Miller, Kim Fields as competitors

“Dancing with the Stars” gave us their first and likely only double-elimination of the season on Monday night, and it ended with both Kim Fields and Von Miller. Was this a surprise? While it certainly seemed as though Kim was surprised by what happened, we certainly weren’t given that these two had been closer to the bottom of the leaderboard as of late, and when it comes to the former in particular, she really didn’t seem to have the enormous voting block as other people.

In this postmortem on Monday’s episode, let’s look into these eliminations a little bit further.

Kim – While we realize that Kim was originally famous for “The Facts of Life,” more recently she was a cast member of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Alumni of this show never do extremely well on this show for one reason or another. She had a lot of enthusiasm and tried hard, but we think that she struggled more on lyrical dances this season; also, she was probably hurt somewhat by dancing with a pro in Sasha Farber who doesn’t have the fan following of someone like Mark Ballas, who is dancing with potential favorite Paige VanZant.

Von – Here, it’s a case of a football player just never getting the scores that he needed. We have no doubt that if Von had been getting 9’s, he would probably be finale-bound. Yet, he just never had that breakout dance. We don’t know if it was him being afraid to go all-in because of injury fears or maybe just a lesser amount of dance ability compared to some other NFL stars, but something was missing for him on the show. With that said, we do still like Von as a person, and this show made us want to root for him more on the field (even if we’re not a huge football fan).
