‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: The difficulties of Black Siren
As reported a number of times here on CarterMatt, Katie Cassidy is going to be appearing on “The Flash” later next month as Black Siren, effectively the Earth-2 version of Laurel Lance. This version, though, may be working with Zoom as one of his meta-humans, which probably is going to make things awkward for the team as STAR Labs. Much like with Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost, how do you work against someone who was a friend on Earth-1? Also, how do you do it knowing that this “good” counterpart is already dead?
In getting a further sense of the awkwardness that is going to present itself with Black Siren on the show, all you have to do is check out what Carlos Valdes had to say to Entertainment Weekly recently:
“Cisco reacts in a pretty unexpected way … There’s a little bit of a morbid shock, because the characters have an awareness to the fact that Laurel Lance is dead. That death had some effect on these characters in this world. So to see Black Siren, more than anything, is a shock to the senses. To know that someone relatively close to you is dead and to see a version of them still alive would be harrowing and jarring for anyone. There’s a bit of a disturbance there in terms of seeing her like that again.”
Let’s just hope now that we don’t see Black Siren die during her upcoming appearance; even if she is not necessarily on the same side as some of our heroes, we do want to have an avenue in which Cassidy can still appear on the show.

No, please let her die. It would be great of she died in all timelines so we don’t ever have to worry about seeing her on Arrow again.
What is with the the revisionism of Laurel Lance by journalist on the web lately? She’s been one of the most awful characters in TV for four years. Katie Cassidy’s take on Black Canary is an insult to everything that makes Black Canary a good character in the comics and cartoons. Her work on the the show doesn’t deserve anything except mockery. Sara Lance was a better Black Canary.

Your transference of hate on a fictional character is beyond the pale.
The consensus of loyal fans of Laurel Lance/Black Canary’s actual true story and Katie Cassidy’s portrayal ..look forward to the Black Siren’s addition on the Flash, minus the Olibur-Felicity deadweight. Opening up the possibilities to creative stories and audience anticipation.
It’s the organic thing , to “thrive”–not die /s

Transference of hate? No transference, or hate for that matter. Just general frustration at the way the media has written about this recently.
The online hysteria and endless onslaught of phony outrage surrounding this characters death is beyond the pale. Though I’ll admit, my attempt to counter this flimsy narrative that pretends losing her was some kind of insult has made me a bit excessive in the opposite direction. As it is, I haven’t sent death threats or tried to organize boycotts, so I’m still well beneath the the level of absurdity that many Laurel/Cassidy fans have shown like in recent weeks. Truthfully, that’s holding myself to a low standard, but the internet will be the internet.
