‘Game of Thrones’ season 6, episode 2 photo: Meera Reed returns!

While sometimes “Game of Thrones” can get a little unwieldy with its enormous cast, there are some treats that come out of getting to see people who we haven’t seen in a while.

One of these said treats could come on Sunday night’s new episode, when we’re going to have a chance to see Meera Reed for the first time since “The Children” over a season ago. Like Bran and Hodor, she’s been sidelined, but the largest difference between her and those characters is that they are particularly easy to remember. For her, it’s a much harder road to name recognition.

Luckily, we do think that her true purpose in this world is still coming up, mostly because George R.R. Martin does not create characters just for the sake of doing so. That’s one of the exciting things about the next batch of episodes; storylines are going to converge, and we’ll have a chance to truly learn how some people fit into the ever-complicated tapestry that is Westeros. It’s a fun thing to figure out, and we’re excited to ultimately see what happens here.

For the heck of it, we’ve also went ahead and shared another new photo from Wednesday night’s episode, with this one revolving more around the characters of Varys and Missandei. There’s not much that is notable about this, but we’re thrilled to see Varys on almost any possible opportunity.
