‘The Bachelorette’ alum Desiree Hartsock expecting first child with Chris Siegfried

Mrs. Carter: Desiree Hartsock’s family is starting to expand!

While we have spent a great deal of time as of late talking about the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette” featuring JoJo Fletcher as a leading lady, today former star Desiree confirmed that she and her husband Chris Siegfried (who she met on her season of the show) are expecting their first child. Here is what she had to say in a new interview with Us Weekly about first finding out the news:

“I kind of knew, like, ‘You know something, I think I’m pregnant.’ We were in Hawaii, when we went for our one-year anniversary. That’s when we took a test and found out!”

Desiree and Chris have lived a fairly-quiet life since finishing their run on the show, which has led in some way to the perception that they are the two most under-the-radar people in recent history with the franchise. Personally, we’ve always felt that the show has done a bad job recognizing them for being a successful couple; they didn’t get the big televised wedding, and this past season the show spent more time talking to people like Chris Soules, whose relationship didn’t even work out after the season was over. You would think they would want to bring back successful couples more often than they do.

Anyway, congratulations to Desiree! It’s a nice thing to hear about, and it should be a nice jumping-off point for most of the rest of our coverage this year. The new “Bachelorette” with JoJo premieres next month.
