‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 22 preview: ‘Render Safe’ leads into finale

Secretary -Typically, most network shows run 22 episodes a season, at least unless they are a cop procedural, and in that case they often go for 24. Just look at many of the other CBS shows out there that are not “Madam Secretary.”

Yet, the Tea Leoni series was lucky enough this season to get 23 episodes, so next week’s installment “Render Safe” will not be the finale … even though this story is going to carry in some ways directly into the last installment for at least several months. This episode in some ways is a direct continuation of the story that happened on the show tonight, especially when it comes to the Murphy Station team continuing their hunt for a specific terrorist.

For a few more details, take a look at the synopsis below:

“The United States debates enacting a “render safe” mission to secure nuclear weapons that belong to the Pakistani government before it collapses, while the Murphy Station pursues the terrorist Jibral Disah.”

While we know that this is a show that already has a third season, we’re really not that interested in seeing it get some sort of super-dramatic cliffhanger … even if there is a temptation out there for that to happen like there is with some other shows. We’ve already got a few other cliffhangers to look back at this season, including the midseason finale where it looked like Elizabeth / President Dalton could be in grave danger. Therefore, why not opt for something smaller and quieter to change things up?
