‘Call the Midwife’ season 5, episode 5 preview (PBS): Dr. Turner and health hazards

Dr. Turner

We’ve spent a little bit of time on “Call the Midwife” as of late discussing romance, especially when it comes to the Trixie / Tom / Barbara story. With that, we’re glad to be getting back into the meat of the story on the PBS airing of the show next week, especially when it comes to Dr. Turner starting to get used to some changes as a result of new research.

We don’t want to spoil everything that’s coming in the next episode for the character, but for the time being let’s just say that he will learn that certain habits may be hazardous to a person’s health in a way that it was not known previously. As a result of that, he has to look himself in the mirror, and also question a little bit more the way in which he practices medicine.

For a little more news, including an update on Fred and Violent (we haven’t discussed them much at all this season), take a look at the attached TV Guide synopsis:

“Dr. Turner opens a clinic for respiratory issues; Fred runs Violet’s shop when she’s sidelined by a back injury; and a new mother’s past wreaks havoc on her family.”

We are now at the halfway point of season 5 proper now, and as a big tease on upcoming artists, let’s just say this: Matters for Dr. Turner are going to go from bad to worse. Quite possibly his biggest arc of the entire series is still to come.
