‘Gilmore Girls’ creator would love ‘Bunheads’ revival with Sutton Foster

Remember “Bunheads”? We’re sure that many of you reading this article certainly do. The ballet-themed series starring Sutton Foster and created by Amy Sherman-Palladino aired on ABC Family, but was sadly canceled before it really had a chance to find a solid audience. It was beloved by many fans (including us), and there are still some fans out there that are bitter at the network for the move to end the show. (To us, it’s one of their more egregious cancellations — it’s right up there with canceling “Make It or Break It” before the Olympics.)

Sherman-Palladino is now in the headlines again thanks to the return of another one of her beloved shows in “Gilmore Girls” to Netflix; not only that, but she’s been able to find a role for Foster on the franchise. Would she be thrilled to bring “Bunheads” back in a similar capacity? Based on what she said to Entertainment Weekly recently, it certainly seems like it:

“Look, in a heartbeat if they wanted to do something like that … Just to sit in a room with Sutton Foster, I’d do in a second.”

If “Gilmore Girls” does really well on Netflix, we’d be crazy to rule this out as something the streaming service would consider. With that being said, though, whoever picks up the show would almost have to market it as a completely new show, just from the standpoint of how long it has been since it aired, and also how long it was on. There still is nothing like it on TV, so that definitely works in its favor.
